Changing the World One Dog at a Time Since 2003!
2015 Giving Challenge
Greetings fellow dog lovers! We want to share some very exciting news with you. We participated in The 2015 Giving Challenge September 1st and September 2nd. During that time, The Patterson Foundation matched all new online donor contributions, up to $250 per donor, per organization, with no limit to the amount of matching dollars available. Since we were a new organization to The Giving Challenge all of our donors were considered “new donors”; therefore, ALL donations made to Canine Castaways were matched. Each and every donation made a difference and helped save a life! The fundraising potential for Canine Castaways was phenomenal.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers and generous supporters we surpassed our goals. Saving one dog like Julia didn't change the world, but the world definitely changed for Julia and each dog we rescued.
The 2015 Giving Challenge was made possible by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and The Patterson Foundation with support from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Manatee Community Foundation, and the Herald-Tribune Media Group.
We ended up with the following:
NUMBER OF GIFTS 241
TOTAL DONATIONS $17,280
MATCHED FUNDS $16,430
FAST 50 BONUS $ 500
8th PLACE BONUS $ 1,000
OFFLINE DONATIONS $ 700
-Processing fees
TOTAL RAISED $34,874
On the Saturday before The Giving Challenge began, we received a call from Animal Services about a little 7 pound female who had been hit by a semi-truck. Without hesitation, we rushed to get her the help she needed. Julia ended up having surgery to plate both sides of her pelvis and pin her leg. Although she had a long road to recovery, she got a second chance at a happy life thanks to supporters like you.
