The Giving Challenge

Greetings fellow dog lovers!

We want to share some very exciting news with you. We are participating in The 2015 Giving Challenge from noon on Septemb

er 1st until11:59 am on September 2nd. During this time, The Patterson Foundation will match all new online donor contributions, up to $250 per donor, per organization, with no limit to the amount of matching dollars available. Since we are a new organization to The Giving Challenge all of our donors are considered “new donors”; therefore, ALL donations ($25 minimum and $250 maximum) made to Canine Castaways will be matched. But wait, there’s more…The Patterson Foundation will also recognize the top three non-profits with the most new donors - $10,000 for 1st place; $5,000 for 2nd place and $2,500 for 3rd place! The fundraising potential for Canine Castaways is amazing.

Thanks to your donations we saved a lot of dogs’ lives last year, and although all of them will forever have a place in our hearts, there are a few, like Leilani, that especially stand out.

Six week old Leilani was rescued from euthanasia at Manatee County Animal Services after she was run over by a car. This 1.5 pound poodle puppy was infested with fleas, ticks and intestinal parasites and had a broken femur along with a broken pelvis on the opposite side making amputation impossible. She required a blood transfusion and emergency surgery. After six weeks with an external fixator in place, she required a second surgery with a pin, a bone plate and screws. We strongly believe in our motto that "Saving one dog won't change the world but it will change the world for that dog!" There is no doubt that the world has changed for Leilani and we couldn't have done it without the generosity of our supporters.

Can we count on you to make a donation to Canine Castaways during The 2015 Giving Challenge? Please share this opportunity with all of your friends and family and encourage them to make a $25 donation to help us be one of the top three non-profits. Your support will help us reach our goal of more adoptions this year, saving even more dogs who were going to be euthanized. Please contact us with any questions.

The 2015 Giving Challenge is made possible by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and The Patterson Foundation with support from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Manatee Community Foundation, and the Herald-Tribune Media Group.
